Bundesliga – Bayern Munich 2-1 Borussia Dortmund
Coach Bayern Guardiola reacts:
“We’re obviously very pleased. We played superb football in the second half. All credit to my team! Franck Ribéry really helped us after coming on. The plan was for him to go at Subotic and use his strength in the one-on-one situations. They man-marked Xabi Alonso in the first half but we found solutions, and I believe we’ll always find solutions for situations like that.”
Robert Lewandowski: “It wasn’t easy for all of us and for me personally. The three points are what matters. We weren’t especially good in the first half, but in the second half we did all the things we set out to do.”
Coach Borussia Klopp reacts:
“We had a great first half, the best in a long time, but weren’t as good in the second half when we lost our grip on the game. It’s tough to take as we invested a lot. But the loss was not undeserved. We stopped playing football and were forced to hit long balls. Bayern often easily picked up the second ball which increased the pressure. Before the penalty call, we actually already had the ball in our possession.”
“It was close. It was a good first half and a less good second, in which we buckled to the pressure. We deserved something for the first half but not for the second. We’ve invested a lot but got nothing in return, and that’s what we have to worry about. But many congratulations to FCB on a deserved win.”
