UEFA Champions League matchday 4: Ludogorets 2-3 Arsenal, Basel 1-2 Paris Saint-Germain

Arsenal will have the chance to finish first in group A when they host Paris Saint-Germain for the clash of the group. Each team has already secured their spot to the knockout round but the first place will guarantee to play a second of another group and potentially avoiding some of the title contenders such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona.

Arsenal made the game quite difficult being in a 2-0 hole after only 15 minutes but quickly recover to level the game at the break. The liberation goal came from Ozil in the last moments of the game. PSG also waited the last seconds to take the win in Basel rom a fantastic finish attributed to Meunier who scored his first goal with the French champions.

Both coaches comment on after the match:

Arsene Wenger – Arsenal:

“We were caught cold and were 2-0 down and after that I felt we didn’t panic, kept our composure and came slowly back. It was good to be 2-2 at half-time. In the second half we dropped a little bit physically and we continued to dominate the game, but we were exposed to their counter-attacks.

After, I would like to say three more things. First of all our keeper made one or two saves in the second half, we managed to score a great goal just before the end and Ludogorets are a good team who maintained the intensity tonight that they couldn’t maintain at the Emirates.”

Unai Emery – PSG

“I’m happy, we really needed to win this evening! The team controlled the game well, we were solid up front and defensively. We pushed to get that second goal. We’ve qualified for the Last 16, which will give us confidence. The squad is improving on every level. That’s positive. We created a lot of chances. We now have to improve our finishing.

It was important to pick up three points because Arsenal had won. We have to keep going like this. We showed that we’re a great team.”
