Manchester City have collected just one win from their opening four games in the Premier League this season and are already seven points adrift from the leaders Chelsea. The inevitable pressure will begin to build on Coach Roberto Mancini (photo) as he promised his side’s aspirations of winning the Premier League were a realistic aim. Although, many Blues fans will remember that it was only last season that the Italian failed on his promise of a Champions League spot; they were eventually beaten to it by Harry Redknapp’s Spurs.
When you consider that Mark Hughes was sacked in December of last year for not being on target to reach the Champions League, it surely won’t be long until the media and the fans begin to turn against Mancini and call for his head.
The supporters would not have been pleased to witness their side draw 1-1 against a toothless Blackburn Rovers this weekend; a game they should have won. And now with the added distraction of the Europa League commencing on Thursday, City will have to seriously start picking up wins rather than draws.
Their next home fixture, on the 25th September, is a make or break tie against fellow Italian, Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea; perhaps by then we will truly know the fate of Roberto Mancini and Manchester City.
