Premier League week 7: Chelsea 0-1 Manchester City

Manchester City has been very solid so far in the Premier League and the game at Chelsea was the first test for Guardiloa’s squad. Following the injury of Aguero and Mendy MCFC did not fall back and delivered  a great team performance in London.

Man City coach Guardiola reacts on the big away win:

“I want to dedicate this game for Benjamin and to Sergio – every guy is going to fight to keep going. We are so sad for Benjamin; he’s a guy who gives us a different spirit in the locker room. Sergio as well, but hopefully he’ll be back soon.

We have two options – complain about players not available, or play with the players we have, because we still have exceptional players. We came here to win. This is my first time as a manager I won in this stadium

We are so happy, but the most important thing is to win the game, the way we played in the second half was really good. We came here last year and there are no words to describe what they are and what they did. In the first half, we didn’t find the best positions, but second half was better.

Chelsea are dangerous when they counter, but we keep the ball as much as possible. When we win, we are so happy for that. It’s just September, and there’s a long way to go. We tried to monopolize the ball and play and play and we did it. Three days ago, Chelsea won in Madrid – that’s why I give the group a lot of credit.”

“For sure there is disappointment about the result but at the same time I’m pleased with the commitment of my players, we gave everything,’ said the Italian. ‘You can win or lose, but the most important thing is to see your players giving everything and today that happened.

We played against a really good team, we created chances to score but we didn’t take them. Man City created chances and did well to score. In this type of game it’s very important to score first but great compliments to City. I think we have to look at ourselves and try to put everything into every game. We did that today. Damage or no damage, we have to go game by game, do our best and then we’ll see at the end of the season how we finish the league. When I see my players have given everything we must be pleased despite the bad result.

You have to consider that in seven games we’ve played Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City and Everton. Our start wasn’t so easy. I think we have the points we deserve.”
