International Friendly USMNT-BRazil preview
The US team is about to face the five time FIFA World Cup Champions Brazil in which it is going to be a great showdown in the Gillette Stadium, in front of over 65,000 fans. For many it is the chance to play against some of the greatest players. As midlfielder Michael Bradley says “Brazil is Brazil, in terms of their reputation but also in terms of their quality, in terms of the number of players that they’re able to draw from”.
“As always we have respect for them – respect and nothing more. Hopefully we’ll step on the field and look to see if we can make it a real game.”
The odds for the US are not very high; in fact out of the 17 times the US have faced the Brazilian only once they came on top. It was in 1998 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Semifinal. Sportsbook online betting do not have USMNT stake really high for this game in which Brazil will try to rebound after an early exit of the last Copa America 2015 in Chile.
Coach Klinsmann previews the matchup:
“Just believing that you can play against the best in the world and that you can do well against the best in the world – to build this kind of understanding and feeling is very, very important and you only get that if you play in the game”.
It is also a great chance for the youngsters in the roster to learn and to showcase their talent he continues: “I think these games help us for Gyasi [Zardes], for DeAndre Yedlin and for younger players. They come out of these games and, no matter if you win or lose, they come out of there and say, ‘Oh, actually, I think I can do it!’ Like when we came back from Europe”.
Veteran Jermaine Jones added: “Maybe Neymar doesn’t know Zardes right now, but maybe he makes a good game and say, ‘Oh, this kid is a really good kid”. I think this makes everyone proud on this team when you can wear that jersey. Same with me too. I like to play against big countries, against big players and Brazil, this is that game where everyone wants to play. I like to battle with these kind of players”.
Here is Brazil coach Dunga ahead of the game:
“Lot of things we practiced in training came out well and we can do them even better. I liked how this team performed. We created a lot of chances. We would have liked to score more goals, but a lot of times in soccer, one is enough”.
