Arsenal fans could have been forgiven for imagining that 2 losses in a week could be on the cards with a difficult trip to Molyneux . However those nerves were eases within one minute when Chamakh headed the away team ahead after just one minute. Yet what could have been foreseen as a goal rout quickly turned into a battle of immense proportions. The game was end to end with Wolves only being kept at bay by man of the match Fabianski, who must have been happy to bounce back after his mistake against Newcastle. Wolves and the gunners traded blows and chances before Chamakh finished off Wolves chances with a fine finish in the last minute.
One of the biggest talking points of the game was Fabregas late tackle on Wolves’ left back. People are debating if it was a red card or not. This kind of talk is doing my head in! Its a yellow card move on! Yes it was late, yes it as nasty, yes he was trying to play the ball! Cesc was clearly trying to win the ball and was a fraction late thus causing contact. Do we really have to keep going on about cutting out these so called tackles all the time. Do we really want to end up scaring players so much that we turn football into a non-contact sport! Football is a mans game, a physical game where late tackles are a natural element and eventuality. Stop turning soccer into a wimps sport! If anyone watches old 70’s football with the likes of Leeds united playing they would see tough tackles and the odd punch in the face! If you want to see every footballer turn into a little girl like Ronaldo continue to go on and on about punishing players for being committed in the tackle.
Back to the game after my little rant. Arsenal fans have to be satisfied with this result. After united draw with city the gunners look settled in second position in the EPL. Wenger said we saw something new from his Arsenal team. Team spirit. Arsenal will certainly need to show plenty of team spirit to win any silverware come the end of the season.
