With the new football season only a month in, it’s no surprise to see Everton doing exceptionally well in the Premier League. After all they usually start the season on fire and finish it abysmally or get started in December and by then it’s too late to reach the European places.
For years and years they’ve managed to chip away at the rest of the division on one of the smallest budgets in the top flight. As some clubs have broken away and improved their squads, Everton have still successfully upset football betting odds and finished in the top ten on a regular basis.
The summer was a testing one for the upper hierarchy at Goodison Park with a section of fans voicing their anger towards the amount of cash invested on the pitch. Bill Kenwright has backed David Moyes and with the added funds and the Scot has brought quality and youth to give Everton the edge this season.
It may well be early days but Everton have the squad and more importantly the goal threats needed to challenge this season. The players are working hard for each other, playing fluid football and picking up points along the way. The spine of the team is strong and with Marouane Fellaini playing further forward, Everton will be the team to watch this season.
A relatively easy tie against Leeds in the Carling Cup could see them into the fourth round with a potential trophy not out of their reach. As their nearby neighbours struggle in a transition period, Everton have the opportunity to capitalise and reach Europe once more.
The wider Liverpool betting community will remind us that there’s a long way to go, but the Toffees are worth a bet for shocking the division and storming into Europe. After their long wait it’s nothing less than Everton deserve.
