Teko Modise’s agent Jazzman Mahlakgane confirmed that Orlando Pirates wanted to swap Modise with Elias Pelembe, but have settled for cash.
Modise will sign a three-year deal with The Brazilians this afternoon after discussing personal terms.
Pirates and Sundowns have agreed terms, but Modise will meet the Sundowns officials to conclude the deal and possibly start training at the team’s headquarters in Chloorkop on Friday morning.
In the meantime though, Mahlakgane reveals Bucs were keen on a swap deal involving Pelembe. However, Sundowns opted to pay cash, which has been undisclosed, instead of parting ways with the Mozambican winger.
Mahlakgane said, “The chairman [Irvin Khoza] has confirmed they are selling, although they wanted to swap with Pelembe.
“The ultimate deal is selling. We will meet Sundowns, because they are still locked in a meeting. But it is now clear; the clubs have agreed terms and we are going to meet Sundowns with Teko,” he said.
Mahlakgane also confirmed that it will be an outright deal, meaning it is a permanent purchase by Sundowns.
Following Teko Modise’s disciplinary hearing held this morning, where it was apparently announced that he would be leaving the club, Modise addressed the media and said, “I would like to thank the chairman for the opportunity he has given me. I have been here for 4 good years and I have done all I could do.
