Sunday’s winner at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park will advance to 2011 MLS Cup

(November 2, 2011) – Sporting Kansas City will face the Houston Dynamo in the Eastern Conference Championship at 4:30 p.m. CT on Sunday at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The winner will advance to the 2011 MLS Cup and in doing so will qualify for the 2012-13 CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round.

Sporting Kansas City secured home field advantage with a first place finish in the Eastern Conference in the 2011 Major League Soccer regular season and advanced past the Colorado Rapids with a pair of 2-0 wins over the Colorado Rapids in the Eastern Confernce semifinals.

The Houston Dynamo, regular season runners-up in the East, advanced past the Philadelphia Union 3-1 on aggregate after a 1-0 victory on Thursday night.

Sunday’s contest, a rematch of the 2007 conference final, will be the fourth meetingbetween the East’s top two teams in 2011. Sporting Kansas City earned a 1-1 draw at Houston in July and a 3-0 victory at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park in September in their two regular season meetings to go with a 1-0 win in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifier in April.

The match will be nationally televised live on FOX Soccer (English) and FOX Deportes (Spanish), and will also be locally broadcast on Sports Radio 810 WHB (English) and La Gran D 1340 AM (Spanish).
