Well what can I say? Bitterly disappointed it has to be said after Bafana Bafana failed to show up to the game against a well organized Uruguay side.

The game started in a pretty lackluster capacity in SA’s capital Pretoria. Both side playing sloppy football and not really creating anything of value to mention. Then one of the goals of the world cup suddenly came from nowhere. Forlan created some space for himself and cracked the ball into the net from 30 yards. The crowd silenced.

The second half saw much of the same from SA….nothing! Uruguay won a penalty on 76 minutes, leading to the sending off of SA goalkeeper Khune and finally leaving Forlan to slot the ball home with a fine finish. Bafana Bafana dejected and demoralised fell apart leaving Pereia to bundle the ball home.

My worry is now simple. SA are surely to exit the competition. Will the crowds stay as big with Bafana Bafana not there? Will the enthusiasm diminish? i do hope not. Anyway maybe there will be an unexpected miracle and SA win against France? but don’t count on it.
