Southampton 6-1 Aston Villa.
Senegalese Sadio Mané became the fatest ever player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League with less than 3 minutes! The previous record was held by Robbie Fowler (1994) when he scored a hat-trick against Arsenal in a little under 5 minutes.
His reaction:
“I’m happy . If you see the last few weeks, it has not been easy, but you have to accept it – that’s football. We just tried to give our best in training to work hard, and finally we’ve got the rewards. I think we did a great performance today because we worked together as a team. Everybody was very, very focused on working together.”
“I’m very happy. It’s important to score for the team but I am just happy that the team won for the fans – they’re always amazing, unbelievable. Everybody is happy.”
Coach Koeman:
“You know if Mané gets space to attack and to make runs he’s so fast he will punish you,” Koeman added. “He had a great afternoon like everyone. At half-time 5-1 is an unbelievable result at that time. We spoke about the start of the game and we wanted to be much better than in the last two games.
We did that. It was an amazing start, good goals and good movements. After half-time we kept the confidence and the concentration to try and make the score even higher than it was at half-time”.
