Is Ribery staying in Germany after next summer ?
Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery has claimed there are a few clubs interested. However, he has yet to make up his mind over where he will end up. Ribery said he will decide his future at the end of March and his stay in Germany is closely related to the result of the second leg of the Champions League at Fiorentina.
”I’m not 100% going to Real,” he said. ”Barcelona and Chelsea are also very interested. We will see. It will be decided in two to three weeks.”
It seems like Real Madrid is now reluctant to pay much more than $40 million after massive expenses of more last summer (over $200 million), but the Madrid’s president Florentino Perez is a long-term admirer of the Frenchman and will appreciate his presence in the roster. Franck Ribery is also a close friend of Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid ambassador) and already talked to the former galactic about his desire to play for the Real.
However, Barcelona needs to replace Thierry Henry but tracks Valencia’s David Villa and Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, while Joe Cole’s stalled contract negotiations force Chelsea to recruit a new midfielder.
Ribery said “I want to win the Champions League” and recently insisted that Bayern’s ambition was more important than any financial package. In others terms Ribery’s future might be in Munich for at least one more year.
