Ligue 1 week 5: FC Metz 1-5 PSG / OGC Nice 4-0 AS Monaco

the MCN is the new phenomenon in European football. Mbappé, Cavani and Neymar constitute the PSG trident and probably the strongest combination in Europe now. It did not take long for the most expensive teenager ever to score with his new club. Additionally to his first goal with the French national team, Kylian Mbappe gave Paris Saint-Germain the edge on his first game with the club against a combative Metz side which had resisted for a hour against the Ligue 1 heavy favorites.

Combined with Cavani and Neymar who both scored as well in the game, the trident is impressive and ready to dominate European football.

PSG coach Emery was happy:
“We’re happy with the three points, the team deserved this win. Metz played well in the first half and even equalised. After the red card, we had more space and the match turned when we scored the second. We controlled the match from start to finish.”

PSG’s French teenager Mbappé commented:
“I’m very happy to have scored my first game with Paris. I managed to get the better of my marker and shot hard, it went in, it gave us some breathing space and we were able to play as we wanted afterwards. I’m very happy to be here, I want to give the best of myself all the time and improve alongside the best players in Europe.”

On the side of the country, AS Monaco was severely beaten by OGC Nice. Balotelli scored a brace and revived a side that had been disappointing so far, with three losses in four games, after finishing third last year. the victory stopped Monaco’a record run at 16 consecutive wins and a total of 22 unbeaten matches. Needless to say the tormented summer in Monaco that saw some of last year’s best players leave with the likes of Bernado Silva (to City), Bakayoko (to Chelsea), Mendy (to City) and Mbappé (to PSG). Although the club from the principality recruited talented young prospects it will be very hard this season to compete with Paris’s superpower and to retain Ligue 1 title after a fantastic run last season.

Both clubs now gear for the Champions League with PSG traveling to Glasgow to face Celtic and Monaco to Leipzig in Germany.
