Philadelphia Union today announced the team will host Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 on Wednesday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. EST at PPL Park. One of the most popular teams in Germany, Schalke currently sit in third place in the Bundesliga and are just one win away from a top four finish and a spot in the Champions League next season.

 

Schalke features such stars as Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, currently ranked second in the Bundesliga in scoring, Spanish legend Raul and U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Jermaine Jones.*

 

“Over the last two years we have hosted top English, Mexican, Spanish and Scottish clubs to play the Union,” said Nick Sakiewicz, Philadelphia Union CEO & Operating Partner.  “Now it is only fitting that we bring one of Germany’s top Bundesliga clubs to the Greater Philadelphia region for the first time for our fans to enjoy. Schalke 04 is a club with rich European history and we are honored to welcome them and the German community.”

 

Union full season ticket holders will be able to purchase their same seats at the per ticket price of their season ticket beginning today at 2:00 p.m. EST and ending on Monday, April 16.  Card carrying season ticket holders can have this game loaded on to their current season ticket card. Individual tickets ranging in price from $25 for Supporters tickets to $50 for Midfield tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday, April 16 at 10:00 a.m. EST. Groups of 15 or more will receive a $5 discount per ticket and also have the option of creating a group combo pack that allows them to pair the Schalke match with another regular season Union match for a $10 discounted ticket for both games.

 

Schalke is the first of two international opponents to visit PPL Park this season, as the Union will also host Aston Villa of the Barclays Premier League on July 18.
