LA Galaxy 2-2 Seattle Sounders
Reactions from both side:
Coach Arena – LA
“For 65 minutes or so, we had real good control of the game and we should have done a better job protecting a two-goal lead, no question about it.I thought we looked a bit sluggish after the 60th minute or so, and after [we scored] that second goal, we kind of turned it off a little bit, which is a little bit difficult to understand. But sometimes that happens without explanation, and, unfortunately, they ended up scoring two goals.”
“To say that you have to go into the last game and win a game to get the Supporters’ Shield, that’s fair enough”
Landon Donovan – LA
“We’re disappointed for sure … “For whatever reason, our energy dropped and we couldn’t really get out and get up the field and get possession of the ball. … We couldn’t get forward. Every time the ball went forward, we couldn’t keep it, and they kept us pinned in, so we kept defending. Against a lot of teams, that’s OK, [but] when you do it against Seattle, you’re playing with fire. We gave them much too much time and respect, and it cost us.”
Coach Schmid – Seattle
“I was extremely proud of our team because we took goals at the worst possible times. “I was really proud of the character of our team, being able to come back and lock it up at 2-2 and be knocking on the door to take the win.”
Clint Dempsey – Seattle
“We knew it was going to be a difficult game. There was going to be a lot of energy in the crowd because of the importance of the game…After going two goals down, to fight back and get a point, we feel good about that.”
On the season fianle vs. LA Galaxy again: “It’ll be an important game, an exciting game. I think our fans we’ll be up for it, we’ll be up for it. That’s what it’s all about: Playing in important games like that.”
