New Balance today reveals its first ever kit for the Football Association of Ireland, with the release of the new Republic of Ireland home kit. The launch is part of the ‘Is Féidir Linn Le Cheile’ (‘Together We Can’) campaign.

The home shirt draws inspiration from the 1924 Ireland side that made their debut at the Olympic Games with a 1-0 win against Bulgaria. The shirt features a traditional jolly green shade with a button crew neck, trimmed with the vibrant colours of the Irish tricolour to the collar and sleeves. The main body of the shirt uses a tonal striped pattern, with added detail of Éire printed on the back of the neck, with #COYBIG on the inside of the shirt collar, and #COYGIG featuring on the women’s’ jerseys. The kit is finished with white shorts and green socks.

The kit has been developed using NB Dry technology, a moisture wicking fabric that helps keep players cool and dry whilst wicking sweat from the body, making it fast drying. Multi-directional stretch mesh under-arm regions and a body map mesh to the back of the shirt have been incorporated to aid movement and airflow around the body.

Zonal cushioning integrated within the sock’s ankle and Achilles areas offers added support. The foot bed has been developed with polypropylene to alleviate excess moisture when the foot makes contact with the boot.

The goalkeeper kit has been engineered in line with the outfield players’ jerseys sporting a mock vent and back body map mesh system to compliment the outfield kit aesthetic.

General Manager of New Balance Football, Richard Wright stated: “We are delighted with the design of our first kit with the FAI, it delivers a classic looking shirt featuring cutting edge tech from our design team. The Republic of Ireland fans are world renowned, so we are excited to see their reaction and look forward to both the team and supporters wearing the colors with pride.”
