Marouane Fellaini has attracted many admirers in the Premier League campaign so far but Everton boss David Moyes is desperate to keep hold of the physical playmaker.
The Belgian international really offers something that no other player in the English top flight can produce, with his ability in the air and on the ground, combined with his tendency to score goals and most importantly change games.
His absence was keenly felt during the side’s match with Norwich on Saturday , where a late Sebastian Bassong goal secured a point for the visiting Canaries.
Everton have been guilty of not making the strongest of starts in Premier League campaigns of the past but Fellaini has dragged his side into fifth place in the table, with European qualification of some kind looking like a strong possibility this term.
Nobody is a bigger admirer of the 24-year-old than Moyes and the Scotsman is determined to keep hold of the star although he has not ruled out a move in the future.
He said: “We’re going to be very expensive because he’s such a good player.
“We don’t want to lose him – that’s for definite. I don’t think we will – certainly not in the short term.”
With a number of Premier League betting tips linking the likes of Chelsea with the midfielder, it might not be long before Everton have to lose yet another star player to one of the ‘bigger’ teams in the Premier League.
It’s unlikely Everton will sell their prized asset in the upcoming January transfer window but the Toffees are not blessed with financial clout and they may have to accept, if a mammoth offer comes in for the player in the summer.
Of course if the Merseyside outfit manage to secure Champions League football for next term then that could change everything.
