Major League Soccer week 31

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 19th and 20th goals with the Los Angeles Galaxy to keep the playoffs race alive.

With only a handful of games left the LA Galaxy still have the chance to make it to the postseason and the big reason is Ibrahimovic.

Second goal scorer

Behind Martinez [Atlanta], Ibrahimovic is the second goal scorer in MLS. Thanks to his brace the Galaxy dominated the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0.

Ibrahimovic could have increased his total number of goals scored to 21 but gave the penalty responsibility to team Alessandrini.

The Swedish said: “I’m not here to do a one-man show. I’m here for the team, to help them, and we need all the players we have. If Romain feels confident, of course he should take it. Absolutely.

And I think that was more important than my hat trick. We need all the players we have, especially now, in this moment, and I need him as well as he needs me and the team needs us and we need the team. So that’s the way we play. It’s a collective game, and he scored. That’s more important.”

Two points behind playoffs

The race is on in the Western Comference standings with three games to be played and two points behind Real Salt Lake.

The LA Galaxy will play at Kansas City and Minnesota and wil host the Houston Dynamo to conclude the regular season. The five-times MLS Cup champions will need all the points they can get to pass Real Salt Lake or even Seattle Sounders to advance to the MLS Playoffs.
