La Liga week 5: FC Barcelona 6-1 Eibar

After only five matches played in La Liga this season, Messi has already scored a total of 9 goals. Following his hat-trick last week in the derby, the Argentinian added four more goals against Eibar. The first quadruple  in La Liga since April 2016 [Luis Suarez, FC Barcelona]. This is also Messi’s fourth career quadruple and his first since 2013…

Adding the brace against Juventus in Champions League, this is a total of 11 goals in the first 6 matches of the season. Arguably he is having the best start of any season he has ever played with FC Barcelona. This shows Neymar’s departure to PSG this summer is a bonanza for Leo Messi and he is thriving more than ever as the centerpiece in FCB’s attacking plans. So far this season, Messi is a reborn player getting more space to exploit on the pitch and his association with Luis Suarez is probably better than ever. Now that Dembéle is out for the rest of 2017, we can expect to see more terrific numbers like he has produced from the 30 years-old.

FC Barcelona continued a perfect start with the 5th consecutive win in La Liga putting even more pressure on the champion Real Madrid that has been greatly missing its leader Cristiano Ronaldo due to a four-match ban, now over…

Coach Valverde comments on a special night from his best player:

“There are no words to describe him. He’s an incredibly talented player, extraordinary. We’re pleased how the last two games have gone, but now we have to face Girona.

We’re happy after today’s clash against a tough foe. We had the chance today to rest a few players, and the guys who stepped in today did well.”

On signings Nélson Semedo and Paulinho. “They are adapting very well, and we hope they continue like this.”
