I understand how the rumors start…an American owner, an American coach, what a great story it would be if Villa owner Randy Lerner hired United States National Team coach Bob Bradley (photo).

Let me go on record right now as saying this…it will never happen. It’s not that Bob Bradley is a bad coach (more on my thoughts on him later) it’s just that Villa are competing in a little league you may have heard about called the EPL and nobody is going to take their chances on a rookie American coach. It’s just not going to happen.

The only way it is going to happen is if Bob Bradley were to go over the Europe and coach at a lower level club with some success. Then maybe a top flight club might come calling. But to say that he is going from a relatively disappointing World Cup straight to the EPL is the talk of dreamers.

Eventually, it will happen…an American will coach in the English Premier League, but it’s not going to be this season and it’s not going to be Bob Bradley.
