Clint Dempsey continues to prove why he should be considered the most valuable player to the United States National Team. Both his goals for Fulham against Wigan over the weekend were great strikes. He’s good in the air and on the ground and has a nose for goal. He’s creative, entertaining and feisty. What’s not to like? It should be Dempsey and somebody else up front for the U.S. Team and that other forward doesn’t have to be Jozy.[picappgallerysingle id=”9954450″]

Dempsey could be on his way to cementing a reputation at Craven Cottage similar to one that fellow American Brian McBride left not too long ago. With Bobby Zamora out for a while and Andy Johnson still working himself into form, Dempsey is Fulham’s most dangerous weapon. If he’s good enough to play striker in the EPL, he’s good enough to play it for the U.S. National Team.

On to Major League Soccer playoffs…I hate the fact that the lower seed gets the first game in the home and home series. How about giving the higher seed the choice? That way the higher seed can decide if they want the first game at home to get a lead in goals and then go on the road to hold on for dear life…or go on the road in the first game and then come home.

And what’s with the two game first series and only one game conference final? It doesn’t make any sense and it looks like MLS is going to be changing things up in the playoffs soon. It should just be that the higher seed gets the home game and all playoffs are one game…period. I hate the two game total goal series.

The Galaxy did well to get out of Seattle with a one goal aggregate lead on Edson Buddle’s audacious strike from WAY outside the box.  Seattle did have some great opportunities and I think the game in LA will be a tight one, but I think that LA will hold on to advance.

Real Salt Lake will have their work cut out for them when they return to Rio Tinto Stadium trailing FC Dallas by a goal. How about Dallas??? I think Real Salt Lake will pull it off and get deeper into the playoffs. But they won’t win it all.

I can believe that the Rapids beat Columbus at home, but it will be a different story when they travel to Crew Stadium. Look for the Crew to come back and eliminate the surprise Rapids in a tight one.

The Red Bulls take a one goal lead back to Harrison, New Jersey and I don’t think that San Jose will have enough to post up two goals at Red Bull Arena.  Will Henry hoist the MLS Cup in his first season? I don’t think so, but he’ll come close.
