Champions League Quarterfinals Leg 1
Manchester United 1-1 Bayern Munich
United coach Moyes speaks to the press:
We know that we need to score a goal [in the second leg]. “At the minute, if the score stays the same, Bayern will go through. We have to do something about it, but I said tonight that we wanted to go into the second leg with a real chance, and I think we’ve done that. We’ve given ourselves a great opportunity to go to Munich and get a victory.
“The players played really well tonight, so we’re delighted with the performance. I was a bit disappointed that we conceded a goal in the end, but I thought it was a really good performance. The fans were great tonight, there was a great atmosphere inside the ground, but I’m really pleased with how the players played.”
“It’s hard to put your finger on it [what was missing against Liverpool and Manchester City]. “But there was a real determination tonight to make sure that we did well. It’s a competition we’ve got really good history in, and I think the players went out and realised that we were playing a really good side tonight.”

Bayern coach Guardiola reflects on the away goal:
“I congratulate my team. I’m happy because Manchester United are one of the best teams in the world – you have to remember that.
The away goal is very important even though 1-1 can be very dangerous. We’ll try to win the second leg. I have complete confidence in my players.”
Arjen Robben: “It was a good game. Manchester sat back and played on the break. As expected, we had to make the running and create a number of chances. 1-1 is a good result. We have to finish the job next week.”
Toni Kroos: “It was a tough game. We dominated the match but Man United gave their all and they were dangerous. We deserved the 1-1 draw at the end of the day. The result’s OK. We’ve got every chance in the return game.”
