Champions League week 3
Manchester City dominated Atalanta 5-1 after losing 1-0 at the half-hour mark. A brace from Aguero in the first half saw the Citizens led 2-1 at the break. A hat-trick from Sterling in the second half saw the locals take over the game and are in control of the group.
The Citizens are in perfect form in the Champions League in which they have big aspirations. Last season they failed at the semifinal stage against Tottenham in a thrilling tie.
Aguero and Sterling on top
The two scorers of the day have been the best players so far for their club. Aguero is always an instant striker and a goal machine every time he has the chance to shoot on goals. For Sterling, his growth has been exponential under coach Guardiola. He is scoring more goals than ever and has been decisive in clinical moments for both his club and with the Three Lions.
Sterling is arguably the best English player right now, in front of Kane and Rashford for example and a world class top 10 player.
Coach Pep Guardiola praised the international English player:
“All the credit is for him. He’s a guy whose physicality is incredible. He is so strong.Day after a game, he could play another. His regeneration is incredible; he can play both sides. He is an extraordinary player. His desire, I think he has that. The desire to be better.”
