MLS 2019 Opening Sunday
The first MLS weekend of the 2019 season was rich in emotions. LAFC concluded the first MLS Sunday with a dramatic comeback at home against Sporting Kansas.
Down 1-0 at the break, the Angelinos found their way back and Diomande gave the win in the last seconds of the match with a terrific finish – see below:
The goal from number 99 set the Banc of California stadium on fire as the team grabs its first win and the three points. It was also a good to celebrate the coach’s birthday.
Los Angeles FC coach, Bradley, comments on the crazy finish:
“We spoke about the fact that we have to continue to be aggressive, we have to continue to go by people, dribble, and that when they have that many yellows at halftime, that’s not easy so we knew that was, at that point, something we had to continue to use in our favor.
The fan base has been incredible from day one, they’re there for us and we love it. The sense of how we’re rolling this together and what we want to be as a team so that they are excited about our football and proud of what we put into it, that’s on us every game because what they put out there every single game is just unbelievable.
That’s what happens with good teams, good clubs, so we’re just trying to make sure that somewhere in our DNA as we’re going forward that that is what’s happening.”
