The knockout round draws for the 2011/12 UEFA club competitions will take place on Friday 16 December at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

The pairings for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 and UEFA Europa League rounds of 32 and 16 will be made during ceremonies staged at UEFA, starting at 12.00CET and 13.00CET respectively. The draws will be conducted by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and UEFA director of competitions Giorgio Marchetti, assisted by the ambassadors for the 2012 finals in Munich and Bucharest, Paul Breitner for the UEFA Champions League and Miodrag Belodedici for the UEFA Europa League.

The UEFA Champions League draw will pit the winners from one group against the runners-up from another, with the runners-up playing the first leg at home. Winners and runners-up from the same group cannot be drawn together, likewise clubs from the same association.

The UEFA Europa League round of 32 draw will see the 12 group winners and the four best third-ranked teams from the UEFA Champions League group stage, drawn against the 12 UEFA Europa League runners-up and the four remaining third-ranked teams from the UEFA Champions League. Winners and runners-up from the same group cannot face each other. Group winners and the four best UEFA Champions League refugees will play their return legs at home. Again, clubs from the same association cannot meet.

For the UEFA Europa League an integral round of 16 draw will follow, with the qualified teams from the round of 32 indicated as winners of matches 1 to 16. The first side drawn will play the first leg at home.

Both draws will be transmitted live on UEFA.com and Eurosport.
