Manchester, England, June 2011: Umbro has announced a new addition to its football boot range with the launch of Geometra, specifically designed for the visionary in the team, the player who keeps calm on the field and always finds their pass.

The Geometra combines the comfort and fit of Umbro’s English football tailoring heritage with the latest in football performance technology.

The football boot features a memory foam ‘pass pad’ on its instep to aid ball control. A silicon-bonded grip zone has been added to the toe to help touch and feel and allow the wearer to add increased loft and spin to the ball.

Also unique to the Umbro Geometra football boot <http://www.umbro.com/products/umbro-geometra>  is the specialist sole with a new stud configuration. This pivot zone pressure point takes inspiration from a squash shoe and allows players to turn away from trouble in even the smallest areas.

Full grain ceramic leather, thicker than average leather, is used for the Umbro Geometra  boot to build more strength into the pass and provide more protection.  Feet are further safeguarded by the inclusion of a solid heel wrap and stabiliser to help resist a crunching tackle.

Additional features include laces built into the side of the football boot creating a large strike zone and allowing for a wider opening to the boot to aid comfort. Extra grip on the foot is added by a built in sock liner that hugs the foot to create the comfort that is paramount to Umbro football tailoring.

Manchester-based Umbro  has been at the heart of English football for 87 years and has applied all this experience and craftsmanship to its boots. The Geometra lines up alongside the world-renowned Umbro Speciali and the Umbro GT  to form a range of boots which caters for all types of player.

Each Umbro boot is designed with a different player in mind. The Geometra boot is built for the visionary; the player that stays calm and controlled on the pitch and always finds their pass. The Umbro GT celebrates speed, attitude and individuality whereas the Speciali is built for the purist – the lover of craft and quality.

England midfielder Jordan Henderson , who will wear Geometra boots for the first time during the U21 European Championships, commented: “The new Umbro Geometra boot is perfectly built for my game. The memory foam pass pad and bonded grip zone help with my passing and the large strike zone is ideal for shooting. As well as being comfortable, the boots keep your feet protected which is really important as a midfielder. I can’t wait to play in the Geometra boot during the Euros and over the season ahead.”
