Sunday 3rd October 2010 – Milan – San Siro Stadium, described as the game of all games, the Italian derby. Inter vs Juventus is much more than a soccer match. It is a game between eternal rivals.
Rivalry which has been enhanced by the 2006 Calcopoli’s tsunami which almost drowned the Italian soccer. Calciopoli which is still a rampant topic in all the Italian media, as many claim, especially those who have the black and white at heart, that there is much more to come out especially about the Italian and European champions Inter. More updates to follow in regards during this month.
Back to the game, Inter began the game as favorites and Juventus wanted to confirm the good things shown against Manchester City last Thursday. For all those who are not fans of either teams, they would describe this game as a thrilling one, English style soccer, with both teams trying to get the three points. For the fans of both sides it was a killer game full of emotions. Inter had more ball possession, while Juventus had more on goal chances.
As best match players, we appreciated the performance of Inter’s Samuel Eto’o (photo) who has been a constant danger especially when Coach Benitez shifted him to the left flank.
Felipe Melo has once again been instrumental in Juventus’ midfield, good game from Milos Krasic which is becoming a constant and an ever increasing delight for the hopeful Juventus fans. We also admired the great skill of Alberto Aquilani who’s vision and great talent can prove to be a winning factor in Juventus’ season.
Inter had a couple of injuries during the match which complicated things for the nerazzurri. On the other side, Juventus’ defense is showing signs of stability after a shaky start, even though fullbacks Grygera and De Ceglie cannot seem to guarantee total peace of mind.
After analysing the first 6 games of the championship, everything is indicating that this year’s Serie A season will be much more balanced. Inter are still the team to beat, however there is no vacuum behind them, as was the case with the last 4 seasons.
