While the attention of the international soccer world is currently focused on the undeniable greatness of Barcelona and the undeniable shadiness of FIFA, Inter has finished its season on a positive note, winning the Coppa Italia on Sunday May 29th.

The Nerazzurri managed a 3-1 scoreline over underdogs Palermo, who put up an honorable fight – looking, for stretches of the match, the more dangerous side. But fortune went to the giant Inter, whose timely second half goals from Eto’o and Milito secured the victory.

Inter is reveling in this positive finish at the end of a tough year, which saw the side relinquish the ‘Scudetto’ to rivals AC Milan and get knocked out of the Champion’s League in embarrassing fashion to Schalke.
This vital win may also help the cause of Brazilian coach Leonardo, who replaced Rafael Benitez in December. “It’s a huge satisfaction in an entertaining year, with many changes, for me and for Inter,” Leonardo said. Adding, “This group deserved to finish the year by lifting a trophy.”
