Henry’s tally was his 42nd in regular season play and put him in sole possession of second place in club history in that category (Juan Pablo Angel leads with 58). Giovanni Savarese is now in third place (41 goals).
New York took the lead in the 57th minute. Sam had possession on the right wing and played a cross towards the back post that was headed in by a diving Henry.
However, Colorado tied the game in controversial fashion after referee Alan Kelly ruled that New York defender Jamison Olave fouled Marvin Chavez in the box. Robles guessed correctly on Sanchez’s try, but couldn’t reach the Colorado midfielder’s shot in the lower right hand corner of the goal.
The Red Bulls put up a late rally to try and take the three points. In second half stoppage time, Armando cut it back to Eric Alexander, whose shot whizzed just wide. Then, Richard Eckersley’s cross was met by Henry, but goalkeeper John Berner was there to make the save.
