UEFA Champions League group stage
Tottenham had to win its game against PSV to stay in contact with FC Barcelona and Inter Milan on top of the group. The Dutch came to play and found themselves on the scoreboard first and led at the break.
Tottenham were pushing in the second half without finding the solution. Harry Kane tied the game and then delivered the winning goal in the last minutes of the game before playing at Barcelona and against Inter for probably the decisive match in the group.
Spurs coach, Pochettino, on the hard-fought victory:
“Never give up, that’s the most important characteristic. It was completely unfair, the (score), during the game because to concede so early increased their belief.
But the team was fighting, taking risks and I’m so pleased because we’ve won the game and we’re alive in the competition.
“Now we play Inter, another battle. It will be good to be in that position, still optimistic and believing that we can still go to the next section.”
As for FC Barcelona, the Catalan are through the Round of 16 with the draw at Inter Milan 1-1.
Coach Valverde comments: “We played well in every aspect. We pressed well, we attacked well, all that was missing was a little bit more accuracy over the final metres.”
