The MLS All-Star lineup for 2010 was announced today and it contained no less than four players from the Los Angeles Galaxy.  Landon Donovan and his World Cup teammate Edson Buddle were the obvious choices however Omar Gonzalez and goalkeeper Donovan Rickets also made the cut.

Gonzalez was 2009 MLS Rookie of the Year and along with Rickets is enjoying stellar form this season.  Donovan is coming off a World Cup run that saw him score three goals while leading the U.S. team into the round of sixteen.  Buddle, who saw little playing time in South Africa, has been in lethal form for much of the Galaxy’s current MLS campaign.

After a tremendous early-season that saw them undefeated in fifteen games, the Galaxy have been enduring a spell of rather patchy form of late.  They lost a U.S. Open Cup game 2-0 to the Sounders on July 7th and then fell to the same score-line away to the New England Revolution just three days later.

Their last win was a less-comfortable-than-implied, 3-1 at home to the Sounders on July 4th.  Prior to that they’d managed a 0-0 tie with Toronto FC and been handed their first loss of the season by Real Salt Lake.

The MLS All-Star Game will take place against EPL-giants Manchester United on July 28th in Houston.  The Galaxy meanwhile will be looking to return to winning ways as they match up against DC United away this Sunday July 18th.
