A second-half offensive surge by the home side propelled D.C. United past FC Dallas, 4-1, at RFK Stadium Friday night.

Former FC Dallas man Maicon Santos scored the first goal of the night in the 28th minute after Dwayne De Rosario found the striker in space about 30 yards from goal. Santos took a couple of touches towards the top right corner of the 18-yard box and hammered a shot into the upper 90.

FC Dallas managed to pull one back in the 41st minute when a 50-50 ball in the midfield skipped past two DC United defenders and into the Dallas attacking third to the feet of Blas Perez. Perez turned and slid the ball under Goalkeeper Joe Willis to knot the score at one.

The second half, however, was all D.C. United with the home side taking the lead in the 60th minute. Santos chipped the ball to the far post where rookie Nick DeLeon chested the ball down and volleyed it in to make it 2-1 in United’s favor.

Just six minutes later, D.C. United found the back of the net again as a cross from DeLeon found Danny Cruz wide open at the far post. Cruz slid in to guide the ball up over Hartman. Finally, in the 73rd minute, it was Santos once again with a quick counter giving De Rosario the ball down the right side. The 2011 MVP found Santos who headed home the final goal of the night with perfect timing.
