Thoughts on the match…
It was great to see them here on the field. It was great to see the players giving all their effort today. The points are very well deserved. We played very well today and the credit goes to that group of players.
Was the game plan to counterattack?
The players executed that. We drew them the way we thought we could hurt them. We knew that the last game, they came chop against us. We knew that they were going to come against us, but that leaves spaces behind. I told the boys, ‘just take advantage of it.’ We drew the plan, but the players put it together.
On Mauro Diaz…
He turns the lights on. He brings the best out of the other players. He’s one of those guys who’s always thinking, and that’s important for us, so it’s great to have him back; the players are happy to have him back. He’s working hard. At the same time, we have to take care of him because it’s a long season, but the team looks different when he’s on the field.
On David Texeira’s goal celebration…
I think it just says a lot about the chemistry that they have in the locker room. They have gotten through many things together, as individuals, and as a group, and I know David today – scoring a goal and playing such a great game for the team – it represents a lot for them in their locker room.
On Fabian Castillo…
I think the most remarkable part of his game tonight is the way he worked defensively. I thought that’s what he is now. So, Fabian will score goals, and he will assists naturally, because that’s his talent. But now he’s learning how to play for his team. As happy as we are with the goals and with the assists, what I saw on the field today for Fabian defensively is amazing.
