Atletico’s defeat open up the road to another title for FC Barcelona with a win or any other results better than Real Madrid next weekend. Atletico ahd the chance to fight to the last day but dropped the decision at Levante in the last seconds of the game. This costly defeats eliminates them from title race.
FC Barcelona did not leave a single chance to its city’s rivals with a 5-0 win orchestrated by its phenomenal trio – Messi, Neymar and Suarez. Real Madrid struggled but resisted to Valencia’s comeback and will have to win next weekend and hope that Barcelona do not to claim the Liga title.
Coaches from the three teams comments on a wild finish to the season:
Luis Enrique – FC Barcelona
“Barça’s fans had fun this year, they saw very good football and plenty of good moments throughout the season.
You have to fight every game, and that’s what we did. We’re talking about the best league in Europe. It’s a tough league. Maybe the last part didn’t go the way we wanted, but if we have to win the title in the last game, well then we’ll do it in the last game.
We’re defending better on the long ball. We’re steadily improving and I don’t get the feeling that things will be tough for us. Other teams do complicate things. I think the best is yet to come, but also the most difficult.”
Zinedine Zidane – Real Madrid
“I’m always positive. Now we are second and we have one game left to play, anything can happen. In football you never know what is going to happen. We have to give everything and keep going until the end and we will see what happens. We have a match which will not be easy. I never saw an end to the season as tight as this when I was a player. We will see what happens right up until the end, until the very last minute.
I am happy with the result and with the game. We joined together and won. I’m also happy with the game because the first half was great. There was however a bit of confusion in the second half, which can happen from time to time. It is part of the game. At the end we had a few difficulties against an opponent who played their game. However, we were able to get the three points, which was the most important thing.
What we had to do was keep doing things our way, to keep together if we want to achieve something. Independent of the game in Granada, We will try to give our very best to win our game”.
Diego Simeone – Atletico
“There is no any kind of excuse in the last match. We are finishing a fantastic and huge season. We look forward to another round to continue competing with Barcelona and Real Madrid. Other years were further away and this year we were closer. This is what makes me more and more happy.”
