Serie A – day 5: Atalanta 0-3 Juventus / AS Roma 2-0 Verona

5 wins in 5 games for both teams. Coaches react:

Juventus c0ach Allegri

“It was a good win. There’s a great team spirit here and our character is one of our strengths. Roma’s victory meant we couldn’t put a foot wrong and it wasn’t easy because Atalanta, particularly at home, create a lot of danger.

“They started well and we had a bit of difficulty in picking them up in midfield but then we adjusted things and managed to take the lead. Buffon’s penalty save was crucial. That’s the difference between Gigi and other goalkeepers. He’ll perhaps have to deal with just one shot a game but manages to be decisive. That’s the difference between world class players and normal ones.

On Vidal..

“Vidal still needs to work and get more minutes under his belt because he hasn’t been able to train much in the last few months due to his operation and knee problems. Pereyra and Morata did very well when they came on.”

AS Roma Coach Garcia

“We were smart enough to bide our time. In games like this it’s important to start well and that’s what we did. Maybe we should have gotten a few more efforts on target but as I said during the break you need to be efficient and wait for the right time to strike.

If you manage 20 shots, then sooner or later you’ll unlock them and we did that with two superb goals by Florenzi and Destro. Totti and Ljajic worked their socks off and helped wear Verona out.

“Manolas is a magnificent player with lots of qualities – one is his pace. He’s a big help for us and he’s calm and assured on the ball. I’ve seen past games of his and I’m sure he’ll get goals for us. He’s made a superb start to the season.

“Destro’s goal? That’s what you call class and instinct: immediately after controlling it he let fly with a fantastic shot. That’s the sign of a natural goalscorer.

“In any case I have to keep working on my players: I’m not satisfied with getting 101% out of them; I want to obtain at least 102%.”
