As pointed out by Chivas USA coaches and players, the score isn’t indicative of how close the match really was. The Goats possessed the ball 53.4% over the Rapids 46.6%, and statistically had a clear advantage over their opponent for a better part of the match with 18 attempts on goal.

Tony Cascio’s 50th minute slice shot off a corner kick from Martin Romero, would open up the scoreboard for the Rapids, as they would take a 1-0 advantage.

The match would remain close from there until the 82nd minute when Kamani Hill would score the first of his two goals for the match. Hill received a left to right cross pass inside the 18-box from Omar Cummins whom appeared to be offside when he received a pass from Tony Cascio, setting the score at 2-0.

Just two minutes after, Goats’ defender, Ante Jazic would get called for a questionable take down on Jeff Larentowicz inside the 18-box, that would result in a PK in favor of the home team that Larentowicz would cash in for the 3-0.The final score of the match would arrive in the third minute of s toppage time, as Hill would shoot it in after two consecutive blocked shots by the Rojiblancos defense for the match’s final 4-0.
