Edinson Cavani scored a headers hat-trick securing very important victory for his team against a side that makes them competition for Scudetto and the Champions league spot as well. The Uruguayan striker led his team mates toward appropriate answer to the wonderful atmosphere that one of the best fans in Italy created. With this victory Juve dropped to sixth position, while Napoli in second now.
Despite the great ambient the game started in a manner that was rather passive than active. In first twenty minutes there were very few occasions worth mentioning. Christian Maggio and Alberto Aquilani made an attempts but without any success. However, it was only an intro into the amazing game. After that the game went in totally opposite direction.
Christian Maggio made a good cross and employed unmarked Edinson Cavani who had no problems to put the ball into the net with a header. Inspired from their fans, Vesuviani didn’t stop there. Marek Hamsik and Ezequel Lavezzi were included in double chance two minutes later, but Marco Storari managed to save his team.
Juventus tried to get back into the game through Amauri but Morgan De Sanctis did his job well. Debutant Luca Toni challenged Napoli’s keeper skills in the next minute and managed to score, but the goal was ruled out by the referee due to foul by the towering striker.
Bianconeri didn’t use their opportunities and Napoli doubled the lead. In 27th minute Cavani headed the ball into the net one more time, this time after the cross of Andrea Dossena. This time he was marked but Armand Traore was beaten by the Uruguayan.
Vesuviani kept being dangerous, but the first half ended with no further scoring. Andrea Dossena played one of his best games in career giving Juve right back Zdenek Grygera bitter experience.
In second half Juventus showed some signs of determination to turn things around. Morgan De Sanctis was forced to intervene after Caludio Marchisio’s header and did it excellent, keeping the two goals lead.
But that didn’t last for long. Despite the good play by the guests in that period, in 53rd minute Cavani scored one more header and ended their hopes for points. Lavezzi did a great job before Marek Hamsik sends an assist to their top scorer.
Only ten minutes after he had chance to net his fourth goal in the match, but his bad effort was stopped by Storari after lavezzi brilliant move.
Juventus couldn’t do too much and kept trying to score a goal through Alessandro Del Piero set pieces. Luca Toni tested De Sanctis twice, but didn’t score on his debut for his new club.
The last important moment in the game happened in 75th minute when Edinson Cavani was substituted by Jose Sosa, while the Man of the match drew applauds by the amazing fans from South Italy.
After the game Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri expressed his delight by his men. “Napoli played well, and other than the result, the way we played was pleasing to see. There was a lot of passion and pride shown by the players, as well as good play. The team followed my instructions well. The goals were wonderful to see, especially the third one.” he said.
Unlike him, Luigi Del Neri was very frustrated but tried to take positives by the game, claiming that his team could learn some lessons by the game. “We are working on a long-term project, and these losses hurt. What we must from them is learn and pay more attention,” he said. “The club has made their choices in regards to players, and is constructing a squad that can fight it out for major titles. We signed Toni to replace Quagliarella, and this is a good move, as we cannot compete with the likes of Manchester City, who can spend enormous amounts on one player,” bemoaned Del Neri about the depth of his side.
Now Juventis is on the sixth place with 31 points, nine less than AC Milan. Napoli is now second but also managed to cut Rossoneri advantage to four points after their draw with Udinese.
