Champions League Round of 16:
FC Barcelona stroke 25 times against Olympique Lyonnais but only shot on goals 5 of them and bring a scoreless draw from France.
Despite possession of the ball and dominance the Catalans were enable to score which is uncharacteristic since Barcelona scored
FC Barcelona coach, Valverde, was not all satisfied with the draw:
“We are strong at home, but 0-0 is a dangerous result for the second leg. You have to win at home and the fans will have to push us, because everything’s to be decided.
In terms of our play and our implication from the beginning of the game, the impression is really good, even though we hoped for more because we did enough, but we haven’t won.
“They have not lost a game in the Champions League. Plus, it’s not easy to play away from home in this competition. That’s two wins and two draws (away in Europe) this season.”
Lyon coach, Genesio, thinks his team can score at Barcelona:
“Overall, this is a satisfactory result.. We will have chances to advance if we score at the Camp Nou. We hoped to do better in terms of our game. We were able to compete with our opponent in the first half. We had three good chances in the first half.
We unfortunately suffered a lot in the second half and conceded too many chances. We were a little too passive… We would have liked to have been more aggressive… Our opponent didn’t allow us to do it. It’s important emphasize the courage that the players showed, the way they defended.
We stood up to the great Barça. The team is improving and maturing. Last year we would have lost this game. We have every chance of qualifying and anything can happen in the second leg. We will have an additional advantage at the Camp Nou with the return of our captain, Nabil Fekir. It was a first Champions League knockout match for most of us. It wasn’t an easy match to prepare. We’re still alive.”
