Englishman Jerry Gardner is Somerset born and proud, but occasionally and truthfully claims to be half Irish. He has lived, variously and vicariously, in Taunton, Southampton, Birmingham (not the Alabama one), Strasbourg, Indianapolis, London and Thomastown, Co Kilkenny. He loves most sports in general and QPR in particular. He graduated from Birmingham University with a degree in French in 1986.
Always a keen sports fan, he worked in telecoms and IT marketing for 20 years before moving from England to Ireland, where he has lived for the past ten years. In July 2013, he published “The World’s 50 Greatest Sporting Trophies” which describes the amazing stories behind sport’s top prizes. He is a keen writer, and has made regular radio appearances talking about sporting trophies.
