As part of its first-ever United States tour, AS Roma will take on English Premier League giant, Liverpool FC in an International Friendly on July 25 at historic Fenway Park in Boston. Tickets for the much anticipated rematch between the two 1984 European Cup finalists will go live on-sale April 28 at 10am ET. Information on how to buy tickets available at www.lfctour.com.
Details on the other US stops for the Giallorossi will be revealed sometime in May; however the club is scheduled to play matches in Chicago and New York City, on their maiden voyage to America. As a special benefit, AS Roma season subscribers will be offered a private allocation of tickets available for purchase across all three matches, which will be made available when all tour dates are announced.
“We can’t wait to bring AS Roma to Boston and provide our fans with a chance to watch two of the world’s top clubs showcase their rosters of elite players,” said AS Roma Chief Executive Mark Pannes. “We have had some unforgettable matches with Liverpool in the past and with the local ties of both teams, a match at Fenway should provide an electric atmosphere.”
Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Fenway Park is America’s most beloved ballpark and one of the most recognizable sporting venues in the world. The match vs. Liverpool will be a homecoming for Roma, as the Giallorossi take thefield in Boston for the first time since being purchased by a consortium led by Boston based Raptor Group’s James Pallotta last year.
“As an ownership group we have made growing the Roma brand in the U.S. one of our top priorities and this is a big step in the right direction,” said James Pallotta, Chief Executive, AS Roma holding company NEEP Roma Holding. “I cannot think of a bigger stage for Roma to play on than Fenway Park, in my hometown, in what is hopefully just the beginning of an on-going derby between these two great teams.”
The matchup at Fenway between Roma and Liverpool will continue the ongoing rivalry between Italy and Britain’s top divisions.
