Any Arsenal fan could have been forgiven at half time for being a little giddy with joy at the prospect of being 2-0 up and looking to add to their advantage. The gunners were a goal to the good after Fabregas put Nasri through on goal, calmly taking it past Gomes in goal and somehow sliding the ball into the net from a seemingly impossible angle. The second goal was scored after Hutton was caught napping at right back leaving time for Arshavin time to play a perfect ball for Chamakh to poke the ball home from 8 yards. Everything looked good with Spurs rarely threatening and giving Fabianski nothing to worry about.

The second half was somewhat of a shock to all Arsenal fans watching the game. Defoe entered the fray and made an instant impact flicking on the ball for Van der Varrt who neatly played the ball for Bale who finished with a fantastic finish, sliding the ball with his left foot into the bottom left hand corner. Spurs pressed the ball and made it 2-2 on 67 minutes. Fabregas (photo) unnecessarily handled the ball in the penalty area and Van der Varrt made Arsenal pay slotting the ball home from the penalty spot. The gunners pressed and pressed but to no avail. In fact gunners fans worst fears were realised when again a great free kick from van der Varrt was headed in by Spurs centre back Kaboul to complete the remarkable comeback. Arsenal continued to attack, but to little to late!

Embarrassing. Should I leave it at that? No. Indiscipline and lacking maturity sums the game up better. Teams that want to win the league can’t let leads slip like today. especially at home. Wenger said after the game that he was bemused by how his team lost the game. I can tell him! Try defending! We all love the way Arsenal play their football. The slick passing, the killer through balls and the fluidity of their play. Yet Arsenal do not have the ability to close out games and sacrifice good play for a battling display to kill out the game. Liverpool against West ham led 3-0 at half time and by full time was still 3-0. Why? Hodgson said he wanted a professional performance and just kill the game. Arsenal can’t do that and Wengers tactics are to blame.
