No one can stop Milan. The hottest title challengers win so easy so it seems they are in a class for themselves in Italy. Now they play their games only for thirty or at most sixty minutes, as the rest is formality. Wizard Zlatan Ibrahimovic (photo) and spirited Kevin-Prince Boateng both added goal and assist to their season record, while Robinho (photo) scored one more goal in away 3-0 victory against Bologna.
Rossoneri started the game as it is usual lately: scored in first minutes. Ibrahimovic sent pass by co-ordinates to Boateng who put the ball past keeper Viviano easily. Putting pressure from the start paid off once again.
Bologna made an attempt to regain the result equality, but they did it without any success. Milan defense quarter was doing their job perfectly. In the meantime guests were trying to extend the lead from counter attacks.
That happened in 35th minute. First goal scorer Boateng this time had the role of assistant. He passed the ball to Robinho and the Brazilian netted after coming face to face with Viviano. With 2-0 lead Bologna players looked lost on the pitch, giving even more convincement mark of Rossoneri play.
After the break Milan players came out on the pitch to get the job done. Ibrahimovic and Robinho were close, but their efforts weren’t converted into goals.
Few minutes after their chances Christian Abbiati gave host great opportunity to make the game more interesting. He saved one ball from going to corner, but he lost it giving Riccardo Meggiorini chance to put the ball into the empty net, but his shot finished wide.
Milan got the warning and finished the job in 60th minute, when Ibrahimovic netted after Andrea Pirlo’s pass. With 3-0 on the score sheet last 30 minute was just formality.
However the game didn’t end yet. Bologna best player Marco Di Vaio had wonderful chance to score from penalty kick, but it was denied by Christian Abbiati. After that miss home side totally lost motivation, while Milan kept pressuring without success.
Bologna coach Alberto Malesani thought that his side didn’t deserve three-goals defeat and pointed Zlatan as the man of the match. “The difference was Ibra, I don’t know how he managed to make the assist for the first goal for Boateng, and the same for that of Robinho. For the third we marked him, but he was incredible for every goal. So hats off, if Ibrahimovic had been on our side, it would have changed the game,” honestly concluded Malesani.
Massimiliano Allegri was happy with the display, especially when it comes after Champions League defeat against Ajax. “The defeat against Ajax has done us some good, the team reacted immediately and it was very important with two games remaining. One has now been won and we are waiting for the second against Roma which will be very difficult,” he told the press.
Now Rossoneri extended the lead ahead of competition on six points, after Juventus win over Lazio later the day. Next weekend they face away strugglers Roma in a game that could boost team’s confidence even more.
