Record-full 2017-18 Premier League season

Manchester City reach 100 points!

A centurion for Guardiola’s men as the season folds with impressive domestic numbers for the Citizens. They are the first ever team in the Premier League to reach the centurion mark in one season. Then all the superlatives are imaginable but let’s compare City’s season to the Wenger’s Arsenal Invisibles who finished the campaign undefeated in 2004.

Most points ever with 100, most goals ever with 106, most wins ever with 32, largest winning margin and goal differential ever. Manchester City broke 5 Premier League records this season. The only thing Arsenal did is not to lose a single game in the entire season which is quite remarkable too.

However City’s season will remain #1 ever in the league for breaking not just 1 but 5 records in a single season!!! Hats-off to Guadiola’s men.

the coach shared his emotions:

“What can I say? 100 points – 50 points at home and 50 points away. It’s massive. 100 points in the Premier League – you cannot imagine.

The record will be broken but it will be difficult. They would have to do many things. We had the challenge to break records. We had a target.

We were lucky in some moments. In the last moment, the quality from Kevin De Bruyne and the moment from Gabriel Jesus was fantastic.

We have achieved something unique. We broke everything! When we started, it was about trying to play well and improve every day. We found during the process we were winning games. It is magnificent.”

Not too far away in Liverpool an another record was broken. Mo Salah broke Alan Shearer’s record for the most goals with 32 goals in the Premier League. Salah won the Golden Boot and the Player of the Year titles after an amazing campaign.

Coach Klopp on the season and Champions League final ahead.

Perfect final [day] of the season, of a very exciting season, a very intense season. We showed again the kind of football we couldn’t show in the last few games because the boys are humans not machines.

Flying through Europe, playing there, coming then to playing Everton, playing West Brom, playing Stoke, playing Chelsea, all that stuff – it’s really, really hard. I am so pleased and so happy for the boys that they showed up today again after one week of training, [at] not the highest intensity of course, just the things we thought make sense, and then having a game like this is really nice.

We could have scored more, I think the biggest chances we didn’t use today, but… I’m really happy we didn’t because Brighton wouldn’t have deserved that.

But after 3-0 it was the first few minutes in the season which I could really enjoy, and someone told me then that it’s 3-0 at Newcastle and I thought ‘OK, it’s done’. Then even I knew we are probably in the Champions League, then I had to sit and watch the last few minutes.
