Real Madrid move on to third straight Champions League Final

Real Madrid will aim at winning three straight UCL trophy

Real Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich. The European heavyweights gave us another great night of football high of intensity and thrilling until the final whistle. Bayern Munich had to score and we all had the feelings that they would score at Bernabeu. It took them only 3 minutes to do so.

But Real Madrid and Benzema, who played his best gane in a while had a quick response a few minutes later. Then Bayern Munich missed on a few clear chances as we got tied at the break. then the second half started with an amazing poor display and miscommunication in Bayern’s defense allowing Benzema to score a brace. The Frenchman move to top 5 striker in the history of the Champions League

But Madrid’s player on a loan to Bayern, James Rodriguez leveled as we hit the hour mark. That was it. No more goals would be scored despite a plethora of chances. What a tie this was.

Real move on to Final and they are the sixth club to play three consecutive Champions League Final. Only three clubs ever won three or more straight Champions League and they are Real Madrid (5 in a row during the 1950′), Ajax Amsterdam (3 in a row early 1970’s) and Bayern Munich (3 in a row mid 1970’s) when the competition was name the European Cup…

Coach Real Madrid, Zidane:

“It was a crazy game, but at the same time very entertaining for football fans. We must also congratulate the opponent because they made it a great game. We started badly by conceding early, but the second half was better, pressing high up.

“We’re happy as it’s not normal to play in a Champions League final three years in a row, but now that we’re there, we have to try to win it. We’re going to give everything. We’re going to fight hard and defend our title. It’s very nice to play in the Champions League final three years in a row.

I feel great because qualifying for the final in this way is very nice. This is why we like football. We believe in our work and that we can defend the title in Kiev. What the players do is incredible and I would like to thank all the Real Madrid supporters because they have been unbelievable.

Suffering is part of football and more so at this level in the Champions League. It makes it feel even better to make it to the final, although it’s tough on the heart. You can’t get to the Champions League final without suffering.”

Coach Bayern Munich, Heynckes:

“We’re very disappointed of course. My team turned in an outstanding display today. I just told my team I haven’t seen FC Bayern play so well over the last few years as at the Bernabéu today. But we handed out presents both in the first leg and today.

You mustn’t do that at this high level, you get punished for it and you shouldn’t be surprised if you don’t win. We created numerous chances again, but Navas was outstanding, he was Madrid’s best player today.

We lacked the focus you need in front of goal, maybe because of our high pace. If you take both encounters into account we were the better team. We would have deserved to advance to the final.”
