Will Qatar World Cup be moved to winter?

Qatar has defended its awarding of the FIFA World Cup in 2022, stating that it is capable of delivering the event in summer or winter.

With the ongoing debate as to whether to hold the games in Qatar’s cooler climates during the European domestic football season, FIFA’s executive committee will meet on October 3-4 to discuss its timing.

The Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee told Associated Press: “Football is the most popular sport in the Middle East and the people of our region deserve the opportunity to have history made in their part of the world.

“We are ready to host in summer or winter. We have always maintained that this issue requires the agreement of the international football community. A decision to alter the dates of the 2022 FIFA World Cup would not affect our infrastructure planning.”
