Our young Super 20 Texans were in competition earlier today with the first round of ties in the Super 20 North American Finals that are taking place in Bradenton, Florida at the impressive IMG Academy grounds.Alamo SC San Antonio in their first year of competition were perhaps the surprise winner from today’s round of games, with Texas Football Club also emerging victorious but Laredo Heat lost out in a scintillating seven goal thriller.

Match details:

ALAMO SC 3, ORLANDO CITY 1:

Goals by Giovanni Silveyra, Caesar Martinez and Sergio Terrones were enough to see of Orlando cvity ion their first ever Finals match here in group D.

Alamo went two goals ahead but their rivals managed to grab a lifeline through Eli Beatesbut the Alamo were too strong for their counterparts and added another in stoppage time to take a 3-1 victory as they head into day 2.

TEXAS FC 2, WESTCHESTER 1:

It was the late late show for Texas as Leon Taylor grabbed the winner five minutes prior to the end to grab the points in this match against the Westchester Flames in Group C.
Vincent Johnson opened the scoring early in the second period of play when he scored direct from a corner. Whether he meant that or not is anyones guess!
Westchester then scored from their own corner although it needed help hitting the net from Ryan Williams before Taylor grabbed that all important winner five minuted before the end for the three points.
IRONBOUND 4, LAREDO HEAT 3:

Ironbound opened the scoring through Lucas Teri with the only goal of the first period buy the Heat struck back early in the second with a strike from Pederote to even the scoreline.

The tied score wasn’t to last long as Ironbound added another just minutes later from a corner with Diego Moraes the happy recipient of the adulation from his team mates.

Goals were coming thick and fast now as Heat piled on the pressure with another equalizer on 56 minutes but once again tey failed to hold on to this leveller as Ironbound won a penalty kick which was duly slotted home to make it 3-2 on 61 minutes.

As the Heat pushed forward looking for another goal, it left gaps at the back that Ironbound exploited and on the 73rd minute they made it 4-2, seemingly putting the match beyond reach of the Texans.

However the Laredo side fought back once more and with little more than two minutes remaining added their own third goal but time ran out for the youngsters as the first game of the campaign ended in a 4-3 loss.

Fridays matches see Laredo take on IMG who drew 1-1 with FASA on the opening day and will be hoping to get back on the winning trail before Saturdays final group match.

Both Alamo and TFC will be hoping for another victory each that will certainly head them into pole position for progression with one match remaining on Saturday.
