Brad Evans and Lamar Neagle scored for Seattle Sounders FC (8-7-4, 28 points) in a 2-1 win over Chivas USA (4-12-5, 17 points) on Sunday night at CenturyLink Field. Obafemi Martins recorded two assists and Andrew Weber earned his first victory for Seattle as the club moved into sole possession of seventh in the Western Conference.

Sounders FC conceded the first goal of the match in the 16th minute when Carlos Alvarez weaved through the defense and into the box. Alvarez then laid the ball off the Erick Torres, who finished inside the far post for his second goal of the season.

Seattle equalized in the 23rd minute when Martins slipped Evans behind the Chivas backline. Evans blasted a first-time shot past goalkeeper Dan Kennedy to level the game at 1-1.

Neagle put Sounders FC ahead in the 57th minute when he beat Kennedy from 10-yards out. From the right flank, Martins found Rosales in the middle of the box, who touched it to Neagle for the finish.

In his second straight start for Seattle, Weber made two saves to earn his second career MLS victory. In the 29th minute, Weber made a leaping save on volley from Torres.

Seattle outshot Chivas, 20-8, including 8-3 on goal. Rosales nearly scored the game’s opening goal in the 14th minute when his free kick took a deflection and bounced dangerously towards the goal, but Kennedy was able to make the save.

In the second half, Marc Burch dribbled up the center of the field and fired an open shot from 30-yards that bounced just wide of the post. In the 56th minute, Neagle blasted a left-footed shot from outside the box that was saved by a leaping Kennedy.

Center back Patrick Ianni, who started for the first time this season, nearly scored twice. First in the 50thminute, his header on an Evans cross sailed just over the crossbar, and in the 60th minute his header from a corner kick bounced just wide of the post.
