New York Red Bulls 2-2 Olympique Lyonnais
Dax McCarty and Andre Akpan scored, as the New York Red Bulls drew 2-2 with seven-time Ligue 1 winner, Olympique Lyonnais, Tuesday night at Red Bull Arena in a friendly.

The Red Bulls went behind in the fourth minute when New York defender Jamison Olave redirected a deflected cross into his own goal. New York goalkeeper Luis Robles made a tremendous save two minutes later to block a Lisandro Lopes shot from eight yards out.

On the other end, Lloyd Sam’s first time attempt rolled straight to Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes. Then, in the 18th minute, Jonny Steele was clean through on goal but could not put his blast on target.

New York tied the game in the 31st minute. After a quick free kick and a Lyon clearance, the ball fell to McCarty, who took a touch and ripped it into the top corner of the net with his right foot.

The Red Bulls then took the lead in the 61st minute. Sam made a darting run down the right sideline and found Akpan in the center of the box. Akpan was able to turn and bundle it into the back of the net.

Lyon almost answered immediately, as forward Alexandre Lacazette’s low shot slammed off the left post. However, in the 75th minute, the visitors were able to tie the match. Clinton Njie slid it to Yoann Gourcuff in the right side of the penalty box and the Lyon midfielder slammed it in.
