Seattle Sounders FC (0-3-2, 2 points) played to a 0-0 draw with the New England Revolution (1-2-2, 5 points) Saturday afternoon on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field. Seattle recorded its first clean sheet of the season in front of a sellout crowd of 38,323.

Sounders FC failed to score a goal despite out-shooting the Revs 13-5, holding 68.5% of the possession, and managing 22 open-play crosses to New England’s 12. The Rave Green did not allow a shot on goal for the third time in franchise history, including twice against the Revolution.

In the 14th minute, Lamar Neagle got behind the defense on the left side and found Steve Zakuani deep in the box, but his shot was blocked by Jose Goncalves. A minute later, Osvaldo Alonso settled a clearance at the top of the box and blasted a half-volley that was tipped by New England keeper Bobby Shuttleworth over the crossbar.

Seattle saw its best chance in the 43rd minute when Leo Gonzalez played a through ball to Zakuani behind the defense, but Shuttleworth came out to make the save. Zakuani was close again in the 55thminute when he blew past the defense and took a shot from the top left side of the box that sailed wide of the far post.

Sounders FC created two dangerous chances late. In the 81st minute, DeAndre Yedlin’s cross was headed by Rosales to Neagle at the penalty spot, but the shot was saved. In the 90th minute, Mario Martinez’s corner found Hurtado for a near-post header, but it rolled wide of the far post.
