Montreal Impact dynamite Houston 5-0

The Houston Dynamo fell to the Montreal Impact, 5-0, on Saturday night at Stade Saputo in Montreal. Marco Di Vaio scored two goals as the Dynamo suffered their worst lost of the season.

The Dynamo (10-8-6; 36 points) remain in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Houston is two points back of the Philadelphia Union (10-7-8; 38 points) and three points behind the New York Red Bulls (11-8-6; 39 points) and Sporting Kansas City (11-9-6; 39 points). The Dynamo trail the Impact (12-7-5; 41 points) by five points with ten games remaining in the regular season.

Di Vaio opened the scoring in the 35th minute, bending a shot from the right side of the penalty area into the far corner of the net. Felipe scored two minutes later for a 2-0 Montreal lead. Both first half goals were assisted by Justin Mapp.

The Impact stretched its lead in the 58th minute as Jeb Brovsky finished a Montreal corner kick with a close finish for a 3-0 advantage.

Di Vaio made it 4-0 when he took a pass from Patrice Bernier inside the area and converted his chance.

Andrea Pisanu capped the scoring in stoppage time, taking a through ball from Felipe and finishing his opportunity for a 5-0 win.

It was Corey Ashe’s 162nd career start in all competitions with the Dynamo. He is tied with Brian Ching for sixth on the franchise list. It was also Ashe’s 128th career regular season start with the Dynamo to pass Brian Mullan for fourth on the club list.

It was Tally Hall’s 96th career regular season game. He is tied with Eddie Robinson for 11th on the franchise list.
